The end grain boards are made from laminated ?” squares. ?The advantages to this arrangement: 1) The end of the wood makes up the surface of the board, and knives go between fibers instead of across them. 2) End grain surfaces are 10x harder than side grain surfaces. These two features make end grain boards hard-wearing with less visible knife marks.?
